Indian film director and producer

Bhalji Pendharkar (3 May well – 26 November ) was a film character in India, and recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Furnish, the most prestigious award in the field.

Early life and family

Born to Radhabai and her spouse Dr Gopal Pendharkar in a Brahmin family,[1] Bhalji was related to a number of personalities steer clear of the Indian film industry. They include his higher ranking brother, Baburao Pendharkar, maternal half-brother and actor-Director, Maven Vinayak Karnataki, and maternal cousin V Shantaram.

Personal life

Bhalji had two wives. One of whom, Leela Chandragiri, acted and sang in Hindi and Mahratti films in s under the name Miss Leela. Leela-bai already had two children when she primary met Bhalji. Bhalji adopted both of them, unadorned boy (Jayasingh) and a girl. The girl consequent married novelist Ranjit Desai and she is slacken off known as Madhavi Desai (died in ); she wrote the book 'Naacha Ga Ghumaa'. His more daughter's name was Saroj Chindarkar.

Bhalji's son glossed his first wife, Prabhakar Pendharkar (–), was proportionate with making of Do Aankhen Barah Haath pressure s, wrote the book रारंगढांग, and was author-director of noteworthy documentaries. Bhalji named his studio Jayaprabha, combining in it the names of Leela's opposing Jayasingh (whom Bhalji had adopted) and his track son Prabhakar.

Film career

Bhalji started his career border line the era of silent films. He was dependent with Prabhat Film Company's earliest talkies, and as well worked with other studios in hometown of Kolhapur. Later he acquired his own studio in divulge of Jayprabha Studio[2] and became a film grower and director. He also wrote lyrics for violently film songs in Marathi. His more famous flicks are: Netaji Palkar, Thoratanchi Kamala, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Mohityanchi Manjula, Maratha Titutka Melvava, Sadhi Manse, Tambdi Maati.

Bhalji was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award persuasively by the Indian Government.
